hbc CEO is 2011 Starpreneur

hbc Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rosalinda ‘SanSan’ Ang-Hortaleza, M.D. is one of the recipients of the 2011 Filipina Starpreneurs Award given by Go Negosyo last March 4, 2011 at the World Trade Centre in Pasay City. The Go Negosyo Filipina Starpreneurs Award recognizes outstanding women entrepreneurs and social enablers in their respective fields, who also serve as role models as women with positive, enterprising mindset, passion and innovative skills. The awarding ceremony is part of the Go Negosyo Women Entrepreneurship Summit and Expo 2011.

Dra. Hortaleza personally accepted the Go Negosyo Filipina Starpreneur award for Large Scale Category together with seven other recipients from various industries such as health and beauty retail, food and manufacturing. The Kenneth Cobonpue-inspired trophy shows a ladder enclosed in an acrylic. The ladder symbolizes a woman’s ascent to success while the acrylic denotes the many obstacles an entrepreneur faces, which can be resolved by experience.

hbc Receives Highest Merit at the 2008 SSS Balikat ng Bayan Awards

hbc, one of the country’s leading personal care companies has earned yet another mark of achievement to add in their long line of accolades in industry excellence. Amongst a multitude of other firms, hbc has successfully garnered the much coveted title of Top Employer at the 2008 Social Security System (SSS) Balikat Ng Bayan Awards.

hbc has bested other companies for the top award in the Central NCR, Large-sized category. The award was presented by SSS Secretary Romulo Neri and DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III, and Senator Jun Magsaysay who was also present during the ceremonies as guest of honor. 31 other companies from various industries have also been given awards in their respective categories during the ceremonies.

The award is a profound follow-up to the string of honors hbc has achieved in people management. The company was awarded a runner up spot for Employer of the Year by the Personnel Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) in 2005.

The Balikat ng Bayan award is an honor given by SSS to companies, individuals, and organizations who constantly uphold the welfare and well-being of their employees through proper implementation of company protocols such as updating of remittances, regular contributions, coverage, and giving out of benefits to members.    

 

hbc Receives Investors in People Award at the 520th PMAP Meeting

Moving one step closer to its vision of becoming a world-class retailer of health, beauty and personal care products, hbc was awarded its Investors In People accreditation at the 520th General Membership meeting of PMAP (Personnel Management Association of the Philippines), held at the Dusit Hotel last October 25, 2006.

Investors in People (IIP) is an international quality standard on HR practices that creates strategies to improve the performance of an organization through its people. Developed in the United Kingdom in 1990 by the National Training Task Force in partnership with leading national businesses, professional and employee organizations, there are currently over 37,000 recognized organizations in the UK (covering over 27% of the UK workforce) employing IIP programs. Backing its effectiveness is its track record of a 90% retention rate, encouraging its adoption in many countries around the world.

The IIP UK license was granted to PMAP and was launched in the Philippines in May 2006. hbc was one of only 10 companies who qualified for this prestigious award.

This is no surprise, given hbc’s phenomenal growth and its commitment to maintaining the highest standards not only among their stakeholders but with their employees as well. hbc is a retailer of personal care products and services, dedicated to making beauty and grooming both accessible and affordable. Through the concerted effort of its strong workforce, hbc labored and was awarded by SGS, the globally acknowledge quality process certification agency, the ISO 9002 Certification for Retail Operations on January 2001, the first and only retail company to have done so. The SGS seal underscored hbc’s commitment to quality through the documentation of all its policies and procedures that will eventually resound to serving its customers better.
